This post is brought to you by Dove & Kroger. I am part of the Global Influence Network. All opinions expressed our my own.
I want my daughter and nieces to grow into healthy young women who respect themselves, cherish their inner beauty, lead by example and moves mountains to reach the goals they aspire to acheive. As mothers we develop bonds with our children that run deeper than one can ever imagine. I am the mother of 2 sons and 1 daughter and I admit that I mother them all differently. Each of my offspring has their own distinct personality requiring nurturing at different times and levels.
Being a woman makes me look at my daughter in a much wider perspective . While I want all of my children to grow up with a positive self esteem, girls are a bit different. Girls can struggle with many issues that could negatively impact their self esteem. The capabilities of the internet has changed the way we communicate and makes it easier for negative things to be touted to a large audience. (aka .. girls can be mean!) Spending one on one time with my daughter ensures that we have an open line of commnunication and talk often about her self worth and abilities. Whether its a girls only shopping trip, at home manicures or chilling with a movie, it’s all about her and I. Promoting your child’s self esteem will help mold them to handle their future endeavors with a positive outlook and drive.
Dove has partnered with Kroger to develop the #GirlsUnstoppable conversation online program. Moms, if you don’t know what a hashtag is and you have tween and teenage children, you need to know today. I want to encourage you to not only know the social interaction your daughter is partaking in, but also download the Dove Self-Esteem Toolkit and start planning your girls only night and make a postitive impact on your daughters life! Spending just one hour with your daughter will help toward the goal of reaching 15 million girls by 2015 and making them #GirlsUnstoppable!
