Back to College Blues Care Package

It’s that time again, back to school season is starting to kick in. The days are getting shorter, the temperatures are cooling and kids everywhere are saying good bye to summer! Transitioning from home life to college life is an adjustment, no matter if it’s your first college semester or your last. Even big kids get the back to college blues. 

When my daughter fretted over packing for school and finalizing her plans, I knew the back to college blues were going to hit hard. I needed to come up with something she would love and put that smile back on her face. I needed to get rid of the bad blues and find some good blues!

 After a few trips up and down the aisles of Walmart, I had 10 things that my daughter could use at college and worked as part of my good blues theme. I picked up a few essentials and a couple of fun things, too. 

Dear Devyn, 

1. Mini Storage Containers - Fill these with quarters (Dad always has plenty). You’ll need them for washers, dryers and parking meters.  

2. Insulated Tumbler -  I am sure you’ll need to pull an all nighter, every now and then. Iced Coffee will get you through the long night and class the next day. Plus, this glass is super cute and I bought one for me, too!

3.  Reusable Lunch Bags - Truth is you are not  fun to be around when you’re hungry. Take some snacks in your backpack and your friends won’t be running for cover.  

4. Pretty fleece Blanket - Just a warm snuggly feeling like a hug from Mom. Keep it close and you’ll always be comfy. 

5. Kleenex Expressions Oval Facial Tissue Chevron Designs - In case you need to shed a few tears, these Kleenex will feel great on your nose and your roommates will be jealous of your fashion sense. 

6. Jar Candle -  I can imagine after several weeks of unwashed laundry on the floor of your room, you might need something that smells like flowers.

7. Wall Decals - Don’t get the blues. Add a few polka dots to your room and cheer up!

8. Spoons - Spoon rhymes with soon, which means this phase of your life will be over soon, enjoy it while it lasts!

9.  Hangers - Hang in there! You can do this and we are so proud of you!

10. Storage Crate - Before you know it the semester will be over. When your done storing up all that college education, pack it up and come home!

Care packages can be designed in any theme, color or style of your choice. You can send cards, pictures, money (that’s probably the favorite), whatever works for you. I plan to wrap my items individually and tell my daughter to open one item a week. We’ll see how that goes, she isn’t patient and it wouldn’t surprise me if she started unwrapping the minute we dropped her off!
