Besides, “What’s for dinner?’, the most frequent question I hear is, “Are the dishes clean?” It’s pretty much been my routine to run the dishwasher late at night, so everything is sparkly and clean in the morning.

So, when someone asks are the dishes dirty or clean, I just want to yell, “Go open the door and look for yourself!” I decided to make a sign for the dishwasher, that way I am not yelling or answering a question, that doesn’t need to be answered.

I am a Scrabble geek, so anytime I see the games and tiles at a thrift store or yard sale, I bring them home. I have all kinds of project ideas in my head, that need to be crafted. Making the Scrabble Tile Dishwasher Magnet is my solution to the “Are the dishes clean?” problem.    #sparklysavings Finish Here's a fun way to know if the dishes in the dishwasher are clean or dirty. Now the kids don't have to ask mom! #DIY #CRAFTS #hack

All you need to make your own Scrabble Tile Dirty Clean Dishwasher Magnet is glue, scrabble tiles and a magnet. I used the free magnets the plumber sends us each year. If you don’t have any extra magnets hanging around, you can pick up magnet sheets at a hobby store.  #sparklysavings finish 2

Be sure to arrange your tiles, so you don’t glue them on upside down. (Yep, I did that.) Place glue on the back of each tile, one at time, and place on magnet and push down to secure. #sparklysavings Finish 3

Push the tiles tight against each other, so you have a nice straight line. Doing one word at a time will work best. I didn’t wait for anything to dry, just kept on working.

After the tiles are adhered, correctly, trim the magnet to the size you prefer. You’re done! Simple and quick. It took longer for the glue gun to heat up, then it took to make the magnet.

  5. What a cute and simple idea! I am so sick of the “dishes in the sink or dishwasher?” question. I’m glad they ask and I”m glad they’ll happily put their dishes in the sink but when I’m asked three times just in the 10 minutes we’re cleaning up after dinner I want to scream. This just might work. Pinned.
