Are you going to be celebrating the birth of our great country with a bang? We found a great way to celebrate the USA with these fun and tasty Flag Waffles.

These fun and festive flag waffles are easy to make from scratch and decorate in a patriotic pattern for celebrating all those summer holidays we love.

If you have never made homemade waffles, don’t worry, it’s easier than you think. I’m going to show you how in the post below so you can whip up a tasty treat for your family this 4th of July!

Do I have to use homemade waffles for this recipe?

Heat up your waffle irons and make these cute patriotic waffles for breakfast on the 4th of July or any day!

Don’t have a waffle iron? You can easily make these on a frozen waffle, too! The kids will have a blast making  and eating these delicious and nutritious patriotic treats!

You can also use this same recipe as a template for topping your favorite pancake recipe as well! The berries and toppings go great with pancakes as well as waffles – either homemade or frozen will work great in either case.

What you’ll need to make 4th of July waffles:

These delicious patriotic waffles use whipped cream cheese, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, and of course…waffles!

You can make our homemade waffles in the recipe card below or you can use frozen or store-bought waffles, either way it’ll be delicious!

How to make patriotic waffles:

Spread a thin layer of whipped cream cheese on a waffle.

Place a single layer of blueberries along the entire outer edge of the waffle.

Add additional blueberries to the upper left corner of the waffle to resemble the stars of the flag.

Alternate strawberry and banana slices to make the stripes of the flag, the cream cheese will hold the fruit pieces in place.

Repeat step 5 all of the way down the waffle.

ENJOY!

Ingredients

  • Waffles (homemade or store-bought)
  • Whipped Cream Cheese
  • Fresh strawberries, sliced diagonally
  • Fresh blueberries
  • Bananas, sliced length-wise and then sliced in half

Instructions

  1. Spread a thin layer of whipped cream cheese on a waffle.
  2. Place a single layer of blueberries along the entire outer edge of the waffle.
  3. Add additional blueberries to the upper left corner of the waffle to resemble the stars of the flag.

What do I need to make homemade waffles?

My homemade waffle recipe uses all purpose flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, eggs, butter, and whole milk. I’ll show you how these simple ingredients that you probably already have on hand come together to create a light and fluffy waffle that goes great for any occasion.

How to make homemade waffles for your flag waffle breakfast feast:

Add all of the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl and whisk until blended.

Separate both eggs, adding the yolks to the dry ingredient mixture and placing the whites in a separate small mixing bowl.

Beat the whites until stiff peaks form, set aside.

And the milk and melted butter to the dry ingredient mixture and blend well.

Fold the stiff egg whites into the dry ingredient mixture.

Pour waffle batter into a hot waffle iron and bake.

Remove hot waffle from waffle iron and immediately place on plate to cool.
